Panoramic lookout, Marina di Pisa, Italy

Description

Drainroof increased the sustainability and functionality of the panoramic lookout at the Marina di Pisa in Tuscany, Italy.

Marina di Pisa is a seaside resort developed from a small fishermen’s village in the second half of the 19th century. As part of the city’s plan to increase the public areas, the clients sought a solution for creating green gardens along the port’s seaboard.

The project involved a panoramic viewing platform facing the port’s seafront, with a pedestrian and bicycle pathway lined with sitting and green areas. Geoplast experts suggested using Drainroof H6 for the gardens, completing several tasks simultaneously:

  • Increasing the port’s green areas, reducing the heat island effect,
  • Seamlessly integrating the gardens with the natural landscape,
  • Promoting vegetation growth by enabling natural water retention and drainage,
  • Further improving sustainability by using 100 % recycled plastic.

By implementing Drainroof, the clients minimized the project’s environmental impact while enhancing the site’s public areas, showcasing the potential of innovative green solutions in urban planning.
