The reconstruction project of Vélodrome stadium in Marseille, completed in 2014. consisted of two main interventions: new canopy to cover the public and getting more space for additional seats. Both interventions followed preparation works on the existing structure because in order to resist loads of new structural elements, it needed reinforcement.
The problem with work on the reinforcement of foundation piles and columns was the lack of space to place crane nor any machinery and formwork except the one installable by hand. Our Geotub was chosen to complete these works due to its adaptability to limited construction site limits:
The project done by architect Didier Rogeon and SCAU was completed in cooperation with GFC Construction company.
After reconstruction, Stadium got additional 7,000 seats and large canopy protecting visitors, and today presents the largest football field in France.
